N172 Old Judge and N173 Old Judge Cabinets

  12 Lots

Lot 8.  N172 Old Judge Hoss Radbourn. The highly prized portrait pose of Radbourn. Beautiful photo quality on this 1888 card and nicely centered. Tiny speck of paper loss in the lower right corner. There are album paper remains on the rear, probably easily removed by soaking.
Minimum Bid $1,500.

Lot 9.  N172 Old Judge Mike McCormick Porttrait. One of the toughest Old Judges issued early in 1887. Number 94 is in upper right corner. Photo quality and centering are near perfect. Couple of negligible printing marks on an otherwise clean back. Excellent +.
Minimum Bid $1,000.

Lot 10.  N172 Old Judge Clark Griffith. Very nice 1889 Old Judge card of Griffith when he was pitching in the minors. Griffith would get to the Cubs in 1893 when he started a streak of 6 20 win seasons. Photo is a little on the light side, but the card is overall excellent plus with nice centering and a clean back.
Minimum Bid $300.

Lot 11.  N172 Old Judge "Dummy" Hoy. 1888 Series card showing Hoy with Washington. Beautiful ex+-mt front. Reverse shows Hoy’s career inscribed in pencil in hobby great Buck Barker’s handwriting. Excellent or ex+-mt depending on how you feel about the handwriting.
Minimum Bid $600.

Lot 12.  6 N172 Old Judges. Four of the six are sliding poses as follows: 1887 George, N.Y. (vg), Devlin, St. L (vg), Tiernan, N.Y. (vg-ex), 1888 George, N.Y. (ex). The others are Dorgan, N.Y.-batting (ex) and Crane N.Y.-throwing (ex).
Minimum Bid $500.

Lot 13.  N173 Old Judge Cabinet Harry Wright. One of baseball’s most historical figures dating back to the 1869 Red Stockings. In the late 1880’s he was managing the Philadelphia Club in the N.L. The card is excellent+ and has a tiny nip at the lower left corner.
Minimum Bid $2,000.

Lot 14.  N173 Old Judge Cabinet Tip O’Neill, St. Louis Browns. This is the "real" "Tip" O’Neil, a top outfielder for the Browns during their Championship years and the Batting champ with a phenomenal (though argued) .438 average. The card is near mint.
Minimum Bid $800.

Lot 15.  N173 Old Judge Cabinet John Clarkson, Boston Excellent condition with nice contrast. Back is clean. Couple of spots in upper left and tiny 1/4" wrinkle in mount in upper left mentioned for accuracy.
Minimum Bid $1,000.

Lot 16.  N173 Old Judge Cabinet Buck Ewing. Beautiful card of the New York Giant Hall of Famer. Clean back. Ex-mt.
Minimum Bid $1,000.

Lot 17.  N173 Old Judge Cabinet Charles Comiskey, St. Louis Browns. Beautiful contrast in the photo of Comiskey. Clean back. Light circular stain towards the top of little concern. Still excellent and beautiful.
Minimum Bid $1,000.

Lot 18.  N173 Old Judge Cabinet Charles Bryan, Chicago. Scarce and desirable dark mount. Great photo quality and excellent +. Some natural paper spots along sides.
Minimum Bid $600.

Lot 19.  N173 Old Judge Cabinet Hardy Richardson, Detroit. A mainstay in Detroit’s great teams of the 1880’s. Also included are the two style of checklists for N173’s found in Old Judge cigarette packages. The Cabinet is ex+-mt condition and the checklists are fair-good.
Minimum Bid $500.
