Lot 260.  1909 and 1910 Sporting News Record Books. This series of small guides started in 1908. I’ve never seen the first year. 1909 and 1910 are extremely rare. The 1909 Guide has 34 pages which have stats, schedules, "Casey At the Bat" and is in vg-ex condition. The 1910 is highlighted by its cover which has the famous image of Ty Cobb and Honus Wagner shaking hands before the 1909 World Series. Expanded to 40 pages, there’s a thin piece of tape on the spine and a light crease. Still very good.

Lot 261.  1916-2002 near Complete run of Baseball Magazine’s Who’s Who in Baseball and 1923 and 1925 Baseball Bat Bag. The 1912 first issue is missing. The difficult 1916 is in excellent condition. Thereafter the condition is spotty until 1952. The 1918 issue is excellent, the balance from 1917 to 1925 including the two Ruth issues (1920-1) have tape on the spine and average good. Of the 1926–1951 issues, ten have tape on the spine. The others show some wear and average very good. The 1937 with Gehrig is vg-ex. The 1942-3 with DiMaggio and Williams are gd-vg (no tape). From 1952 on the issues average excellent and better. The 1923 Bat Bag is good, tape and the 1925 is excellent.

Lot 262.  Group of Spalding Baseball Guides 1888, 1895-1941. A run of 47 Spalding Guides and the 1888. Condition breakdown: 1901, 1908-9, 1913-16, 1918-9, 1924-8, 1933-4, 1937, 1940 (very good-excellent); 1888, 1895, 1897-8 (hard cover, no original covers), 1896 hardbound with o/c; 1899, 1902, 1911, 1938 (missing covers); 1900, 1903 (missing fc), 1904-7, 1910, 1912, 1917, 1920-23, 1929-32, 1935-6, 1939, 1941 (both covers, some tape), In addition there are 1913 and 1918 Spalding Records (fair-good).

Lot 263.  Run of Sporting News Baseball Registers, 1940-1992 and a large hardcover 1933 Carmichael’s Who’s Who. The popular Who’s Who is excellent +. The Registers are basically very good from 1940 to 1950. The 1940-1, 1945 and 1948-50 have some tape on the spine. There is an additional Serviceman’s Edition from 1945. The Registers from 1951 to 1992 are basically excellent or better although the 1962 has a piece of tape on the spine. 55 books in all.

Lot 264.  Run of Sporting News Baseball Guides, 1942-1992 and 3 Barnes Guides 1943, 1945 and 1946. The Guides are vg-ex from 1946 on becoming excellent and better in the 1950’s. 1942-45 and 1948-49 have tape on the spine. The Barnes Guides are excellent and the 1943 is autographed by the editor Leslkie O’Connor.

Lot 265.  Nice run of Street and Smith’s yearbooks from 1941-98 missing 1992 and 1997. Condition breakdown as follows: 1941 is missing original covers and has been replaced by man made covers, 1942-4 and 1946 have tape on spine for preservation, 1945 is near excellent, 1947 on are excellent and better. Five years (1963-4, 1966-8) have two issues with different covers. A total of 61 yearbooks.

Lot 266.  Complete run of Baseball Digest from the rare inception issue of August 1942 through the December issue of 1998. If we count correctly there’s 623 issues. A history of baseball from World War II to the end of the century. Condition is overall very nice. The first two issues are excellent the balance through 1952 is 80% vg-ex, the balance have some tape on the spine. Subsequently the issues are almost all excellent and better except for an occasionally bad one. The last 30 years have the mailing label. A tough run to put together. Will be shipped in three heavy boxes via Media Mail unless the buyer indicates otherwise.

Some highlights are: 1950-2 Sports Stars (4), 1949-52 Sport Life (5), 1948-9 Sport Pix (3), 1948-52 Dell Sports Album (8), 1950-68 True Baseball Yearbook (11), 1953-62 Dell Who’s Who in the Big Leagues (5), 1953-78 Dell Baseball (7), 1981-91 TSN Baseball Yearbook (9), 1967-88 Baseball Illustrated (11 issues), etc. Covers include Mantle (16), Mantle-Maris (2), Mays (9), Clemente (5), Aaron (3), J. DiMaggio, Ted Williams (2), Koufax (7), Snider (4), Musial (4), Bench (7), Ripken, R. Jackson, (5), Ryan (2), Seaver (3), Clemens (3), etc. We count 36 pre 1960 magazines. Condition is generally excellent. A complete inventory is available by fax or mail.

Lot 268.  Cleveland Indian & Chicago Cub TV-Radio, Press Guides - Cleveland: 1948-57, 1959, 1961, 1963, 1965-2001. 1949 (no front cover), 1965-6 (punched for spiral bound, 1967-70 (3 hole punch). 50 Guides. All excellent or better. Chicago Cub : 1941-2, 1958-67, 1969-2001. 1960 (tape on spine), rest excellent and better. 45 Chicago Guides. 95 Guides in all.
