Lot 325.  19th Century lot of 33 sports related cards. 2 N43 Allen & Ginters Cummings & Clarke, ex-mt front some back damage; 8 N184 Kimballs (vg); 6 N165 Goodwin Games & Sports, excellent; 16 N28 and N29 Allen & Ginter Boxers & Wrestlers and 1 N162 Goodwin Boxer. 8 N28’s include Dempsey (vg-ex), Mitchell, Lannon, Carney, McAuliffe, Smith, Weir, Kilrain and Carroll. Average very good; N29’s Bauer & Duffy, no backs, fair; N162 Goodwin Champion Jem Smith (ex front, back damage) and 1 other N162 (Rowe, vg). 6 addition N29 Allen & Ginter with no backs, fair-good;

Lot 326.  T6 Murad (large) College set of 25 plus 4 variations. A bigger and much rarer version of the T51 set (offered below). Rarely offered set especially in this condition. All are excellent or better. Variations are for Cornell (Rowing), Harvard (Football), Rochester (hockey) and Williams (basketball). The variations are especially noteworthy because they include three of the four major sports. Baseball is represented on the Fordham card.

Lot 327.  T51 Murad College set of 150 issued in 6 sets of 25 cards each. Extremely popular set due to representation of various sports scenes. There are 8 baseball scenes, 7 Golf, 6 football and 4 basketball. Overall the set is excellent. A group, though not in as nice condition, brought over $1,600 in our November 2002 Auction.
Minimum Bid $750.


Lot 328.  1929 "Men of America" 4 1/8" x 2 1/2" booklets near set of 48 with specially made album. The set featured 3 booklets with sports figures highlighted by #35-American Athletes with Bobby Jones on the front cover (and Rogers Hornsby on the back). Other Athletic booklets are #49 Judge Landis and #17 Walter Camp. There are four missing booklets (42-Haley Fiske, 47-Harvey Firestone, 51-Walter Head & 52-Henry Ford). Familiar names in the set are Theodore Roosevelt, George Eastman, George Washington, Thomas Edison, Charles Lindbergh, Will Rogers, Ben Franklin, etc. Virtually all are excellent or better including the three sports booklets and the album.

Lot 329.  A "Thrilling Moments…." Album for the box design 72 card set issued by Donut Company of America. Also included are 18 neatly cut cards including Red Grange and John L. Sullivan. The other cards are: General Custer, William Beebe,, Frank Luke, Charles Steinmetz, Stonewall Jackson, David Sarnoff, Francis Scott Key, Fougere Audubon, Leland Stanford, Alvin C. York, Molly Pitcher, Cyrus W. Field, Captain Bob Bartlett, Commander Edward Ellsberg and Dr. Victor Heiser. The Album is in exceptional condition (ex-mt) and the cards are all near mint except for one (David Sarnoff) with a clipped corner.

The cards and album are excellent.

Lot 331.  Complete set of 42+ 1948 Kellogg’s Pep Sports and Movie stars. 24 movie stars plus a rare George Sanders variation, 2 Tennis (Budge & hardwick), 5 baseball (Cavaretta, Grove, Tresh, Trout, Wakefield), 3 Golf (Ferrier, Snead, Mangrum), 1 basketball (Mikan), 5 football (Waterfield, McAfee, Trippi, Standlee, Groza), 1 swimmer (Kiefer) and 1 boxer (Zale). Very rarely seen as a set. Cards are almost all excellent and better.

Lot 333.  1952 Multi-Sport Wheaties Champs Complete set of 60 cards measuring approx. 2 by 2 3/4 inches, cut with rounded corners as intended. 37 show varying amounts of blue border.
