  18 Lots       »

Lot 48.  N172 Old Judge Ed Delehanty SGC 50 VG/EX 4. Batting pose of Delehanty with slight pinkish tint. Slight mark at lower right.
Minimum Bid $1,000.

Lot 49.  N172 Old Judge Bill McClellan, Denver. GAI graded NM+ 7.5. Beautiful well centered card, with clean back and superb photo. 1889 Old Judge taken in 1887 when all Brooklyn players were taken with outdoor backgrounds. McClellan’s major league career was over in 1888 and he played with Denver of the Western League in 1889. A tough team change card.
Minimum Bid $400.

Lot 50.  N172 Old Judge Cap Anson, Chicagos (N.L.) Always desirable card of Anson made even more so by the “N.L.” notation, designating it as an 1890 card and distinguishing it from the Players League cards of that year. All 1890 cards suffer from poor visibility and this Anson is better than most. Sharp corners and a light paste stain on the rear.
Minimum Bid $1,000.

Lot 51.  N172 Old Judge Bid McPhee, Cincinnati. The most recent HOF inductee from the 19th Century has become a very “hot” Old Judge Card. McPhee was never an easy Old Judge before with all of his five poses being issued in 1888 and 1889. The offered card has an acceptable photo but the left side of the card is very light. A stain and hinge mark is on the rear.
Minimum Bid $800.

Lot 52.  N172 Old Judge Harry Wright, Phila. Beautifully clear image of the portrait of Wright looking to his right. N172’s of Wright are notorious for light images and this is among the better ones we’ve ever seen. Issued in 1888. Excellent-mint front with a light glue stain on the rear. Ex+.
Minimum Bid $1,000.

Lot 53.  N172 Old Judge Hugh Duffy. Extremely nice 1889 card, strong photo, clean back, nicely centered card of the Hall of Famer. Excellent +.
Minimum Bid $500.

Lot 54.  N172 Old Judge Amos Rusie. 1889 Old Judge card showing Rusie with Indianapolis, his first year in the majors and his only one with Indianapolis. Nice clean card with excellent photo quality reasonably good centering and an unmarked back.
Minimum Bid $1,000.

Lot 55.  N172 Old Judge Mike “$10,000” Kelly. 1887 numbered card (5) has near mint flawless front. Back was glued in album and shows minor paper residue and paper loss.
Minimum Bid $600.

Lot 56.  N172 Old Judge Billy Hamilton, Kansas City. Tough HOF’er from the 1889 Old Judge series. Nice well centered photo. The Kansas City name has been scratched out. An “Aug 1 1904” date has been rubber stamped on the otherwise clean back. Good +.
Minimum Bid $500.

Lot 57.  N172 Old Judge Buck Ewing, New York. 1888 pose shows Ewing squatting to field a grounded. Good clear picture with stain on rear. Vg-ex.
Minimum Bid $400.

Lot 58.  N172 Old Judge Charles Comiskey, St. Louis Browns. Beautifully clear photo of Comiskey on this 1888 card. A stain on the rear. Excellent.
Minimum Bid $500.

Lot 59.  N172 Old Judge John Ward, New Yorks. Well known pose of the Giant shortstop with his arm holding his cap at his side. Well centered card with an excellent photo. Light stain and hinge mark at rear.
Minimum Bid $400.

Lot 60.  N172 Old Judge Roger Connor. Tougher card of the New York Giant HOF’er from 1887 “script” subset. Good clear picture with tiny wrinkle at upper left. Rear has a stain and a minimal amount of paper loss.
Minimum Bid $400.

Minimum Bid $300.

Lot 62.  N172 Old Judge Tim Keefe, New York Beautifully centered with a clear photo and sharp corners, this 1889 card depicts the Giant pitcher in a batting pose. There is a light stain and hinge mark on the rear. Excellent.
