Lot 75.  1887 St. Louis Browns Currency (scrip). Baseball memorabilia in the form of currency was issued as advertising in 1887-1889 with team composites on one side. Teams found were the Chicago and Detroit of the N.L. and the Champion St. Louis Browns of the American Association. The Browns are without question the most difficult to find. Measuring 7 1.4 x 3 1/2, the front of the piece advertises Sewing Machines and shows Browns manager Gert Von Der Ahe. The rear has cameos of ten Browns including Comiskey, Carruthers, Welch and Gleason. Some minor pencil wiring in the top border on the front, otherwise excellent.
Winning Bid $1,909.

Lot 76.  N142 Duke Cabinet Bill, Nash, Boston. The Duke of Nash is the same on that illustrated the Duke article in Volume 1 of the Encyclopedia of Baseball Cards. Nash is the only non-Hall of Famer in the 4 card Duke set, but a good case could be made for his induction. The 6" x 9" card has a 1/2" by 1" piece missing from the top left corner. In addition, there are four tack holes, circular impressions made by a circular object at the top and the right side and some other surface scratches. The image of Nash in not marred and clear. Not the best condition but still a highly desirable Duke Cabinet.
Winning Bid $888.

Lot 77.  N142 Duke Cabinet, George Davis, New York. The Giant and White Sox shortstop is a recent inductee to the Hall of Fame. There is a 2" surface tear to the right of Davis' head, a spot of paper loss along the left border and there is an approximate 1" square scrape on the otherwise blank back. Overall, a very nice appearance. Good.
Winning Bid $2,860.
