Lot 81.  Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Buzz Arlett photo. This 1932 6 1/2 x 7 3/4 inch Associated Press photo shows Yankees Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig flanking minor league slugger Russell "Buzz" Arlett, voted in 1984 as the outstanding player in minor league history by the Society for American Baseball Research. Arlett is shown in a Baltimore Orioles uniform. He led the American Association with 54 home runs that season, including four in a game twice. Photo measures 6 1/2 x 7 3/4, minor creasing visible on front from library file mark on reverse, Excellent.

Lot 82.  Lou Gehrig famous Charles Conlon Pose. The ultimate Lou Gehrig wirephoto, a 6 1/2 x 9 1/4-inch Underwood and Underwood photo showing the famous Charles Conlon R316 batting pose. The wire service moved this photo upon Gehrig's death in 1941, but the picture dates from the late 1920s; Excellent with minimal wear on two corners and one tiny crease near top.

Lot 83.  Arnold "Chick" Gandil Van Oeyen photograph, when with Washington. Standing with ball in this 8 x 10 with chipping well above image. Fair, but damage could be easily removed without hurting image by cropping to 7 x 9, as John Spalding did, when he used this photo in his book, "PCL Stars, Vol. 2". A 1913 photo, predating Gandil's "Black Sox" days. Oval Van Oeyen rubber stamp on rear.

Lot 85.  Babe Ruth Collection of six photos with the New York Yankees (4) and Boston Braves (2). Highlight is 8 3/4 x 6 3/4-inch full length batting photo superimposed by newspaper artist over a scene at the plate of Ruth belting one as catcher and umpire look on. Others show him blasting first homer of 1932 as catcher Mickey Cochrane and ump watch, sitting in dugout with former star Home Run Baker and shaking hands with Charlie Jamieson of the Indians. One 6 1/4 x 8-inch depicting Lou and his wife Eleanor in civilian clothes in 1938 (port/k, cor crease), a second 5 x 7-inch Apex Photo Service swinging the bat and the last a 1936 10 x 7 1/4-inch picture showing the "Iron Horse" leaving home plate after hitting a drive as catcher Frank Hayes (Phillies) watches; pin holes near left border do not affect image; Excellent;

Lot 87.  Ty Cobb collection of 11 photos, spanning most of his Detroit career from 1909 to 1925 and one in a Philadelphia Athletics uniform. He wears civilian clothes in a 1927 photo as he signs autographs for female admirers, again in a 1929 picture with George Burns after a hearing on gambling charges before Judge Landis, and in a 1951 appearance before the U. Lot 88.  Walter Johnson Collection of 8 photos showing "The Big Train" in the 1920s (6) and 1930s (2). Highlights are Johnson presenting President Herbert Hoover with a baseball on opening day and a 1924 pitching pose mounted on a 4 x 9 1/2 inch heavy board. One photo with Connie Mack has clipped corners, but the rest are Vg-Ex & Excellent; Detailed list of the 8 photos available on request.

Lot 89.  Joe DiMaggio Collection of 10 photos. Group of photos, all but one 6 x 8 or larger. Highlights are a stunning ground level picture of DiMaggio about to slide safely across home plate at Washington as the catcher, umpire and nearby cameramen await the final call and a second photo in the company of leggy actress Marlene Dietrich. Another shows Joe in a Boston Red Sox uniform awaiting an exhibition game in Beantown with brother Dom. Another of Joe sliding home as Gehrig looks on in an early 1936 rookie season photo. Other HOFers appear in several of the photos including Feller, Ford, Gehrig and umpire Bill McGowan. Four of the photos show him in civilian clothes. Lot 90.  Ted Williams Collection of 5 photos. Group of photos 6 x 8 or larger of Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox. Three show Williams in full length batting poses in 1939, 1942 and 1969, the most famous being the 1939 shot which graced the front cover of Baseball Magazine. The 1942 photo shows the "Health" patch found on uniforms only in 1942. The remaining two pictures show him with Joe DiMaggio and Hank Bauer. All Excellent. Lot 91.  Casey Stengel Collection of 13 photos. Group of photos depict Stengel as a New York Giants player (2) in 1921-2, and New York Yankees manager (11) in the 1950s; Many show Stengel with other managers, Commissioner Chandler, league presidents Frick and Harridge and Yankee players, including a fine 1957 picture with Mantle, Berra and the rest of his starting lineup and another showing Billy Martin dressed as an angel(!). Lot 95.  Whitey Ford Collection of 8 photos. Group of photos 5 x 6 or larger show the Hall of Fame Yankees pitcher. He joins teammate Phil Rizzuto in the hospital in one shot and appears in his U. S. Army uniform in another with his wife. Three of the rest show Ford with opposing pitchers before 1955, 1956 and 1957 World Series appearances.
