Lot 27.  The Personal N172 Old Judge reference books of Lew Lipset. Two 8 1/2” x 10” black 3 ring binders, with a page for every player that had an N172 Old Judge card. Each page has a copy of the listing of poses for that player as listed in the Cartophilic Society’s World Tobacco Index. Following the listing is a xerox copy of all the poses that I could accumulate in my years as an Old Judge collector and a dealer. The page for Tim Keefe is illustrated. Keefe had 9 poses in N172, all nine are shown, 6 on the front of the sheet and the remaining 3 on the back. I estimate the 77-78% of all the poses in N172 Old Judge are present.
Winning Bid $722.

Lot 28.  Complete 1890 Sporting Life volume covering the historic Players League. Perhaps the most desired year of Sporting Life because of its extensive coverage of the Players league, or brotherhood, with every box score. In addition, it appears all Players League teams have graced the cover of an issue with a woodcut. The weekly issued have been preserved in two 22” x 15” slipcases especially made for the issues. Each slipcase holds six months. Unfortunately, the pages in the first issues of the last six months have separated at the middle. This has not affected the woodcuts, which are all on the top half of the cover of each issue, but has affected the pages.
Winning Bid $550.
