Exhibit Cards

  9 Lots

Lot 185.  Set 83 Anonymous Company set of 16 with extra color variation cards of Klein and Waner. The three key cards are SGC graded. A very popular set filled with All-Stars. All with postcard backs and the "Not to be Used in Exhibit Machines" statement. The set averages excellent. Highlights: Ruth (SGC 50 VG/EX 4), Gehrig (SGC 20 FAIR 1.5), Cochrane (vg-ex), Foxx (SGC 60 EX 5), Grove (ex+-mt front, small stain on rear), Hornsby (vg+), Klein (vg, vg-ex), Simmons (ex+-mt), Traynor (ex+-mt), Vance (gd-vg), P. Waner (ex+-mt front, album remains on back, other vg) and Wilson (ex-mt front, minor back damage). Balance: Excellent.
Winning Bid $1,612.

Lot 186.  1925 Exhibit Co. of America Lou Gehrig SGC 30 GOOD 2. Appears to be a solid very good card but a 1” wrinkle on the lower right side of the card apparently kept the grade down. The back is clean. Excellent graded example of this, the Gehrig Rookie card, has brought prices in the $9-$10,000 range.
Winning Bid $2,148.

Lot 187.  1925 Exhibit Co. of America Babe Ruth SGC 40 VG 3. Nice card with no creases and some corner wear.
Minimum Bid $600.

Lot 188.  1925 Group of 4 high profile 1925 Exhibit Co. Hall of Famers including Cobb. Group includes Tris Speaker (ex, clean back), Walter Johnson (light horizontal crease halfway across the card, with heavy pencil writing on rear), Rogers Hornsby (gd-vg, light horizontal crease, and the date 1925 typed in a corner on the rear) and Ty Cobb (Excellent appearing front with Philadelphia hand written below the name and team panel. The back has heavy writing with stats of Cobb’s batting record).
Winning Bid $750.

Winning Bid $2,197.

Lot 192.  1925 Exhibit Company group of 52 cards. Cards are the lesser condition cards from the set. They contain no Hall of Famers and have cards in average good-very good condition with about a dozen poor-fair. A list of the players in this lot is available on request.
Minimum Bid $1,250.

Lot 193.  Exhibit Supply Co. 1927 green tinted set of 64 with graded Ruth and Gehrig. The 1927 green set’s difficulty is often confused with the 1928 Blue set. The truth is that’s it far more difficult and is a very tough set to piece together. The set here, while not a high grade set, does give the collector the rare opportunity to obtain a seldom offered complete set. Highlights: Gehrig (SGC 20 FAIR 1.5), Ruth (SGC 20 FAIR 1.5), Cobb (ex appearance but fair, light pencil mark on rear, album page remains and spot of paper loss), Johnson (very good), Goslin (very good), Speaker (good), Collins (ex+ appearance but good, light pencil mark on rear, album page remains and 2 tiny spots of paper loss), Bancroft (poor, corner chipped, creased), Gehringer (very good), Grimes (vg-ex), Hartnett (vg-ex), Heilman (poor, 1” tear)), Lazzeri (vg, slight writing on rear), Rixey (ex), Hornsby (vg-ex), Lindstrom (gd, 2 pinholes), Cuyler (vg), Traynor (vg-ex), Alexander (vg), Bottomley (vg), Schalk (ex+ appearance but good, pencil mark and “Toy Town” rubber stamp on rear, album page remains), Sisler (ex front, pen signature and date on rear) and Wheat (vg). Balance of set: 12 cards very good-excellent, 15 cards very good and 12 cards fair-good.
Winning Bid $2,600.
