Lot 382.  1929 “Star Picture Stamps” Exhibit Company set of 16 with SGC graded Ruth card. Very rare exhibit set, though the key card with Babe Ruth, may be the most common. The set was issued in 8 “denominations” of 1 (3 cards), 2 (3 cards), 3 (2 cards), 5 (2 cards), 10 (2 cards), 15 (2 cards), 25 and 50 (1 each). The backs all have the identical style of the 1929-30 Baseball 4-in-1's. The “50” denomination includes the “big names” Ruth, Tom Mix, Lindbergh, Chaplin, Dempsey, Lloyd, Fairbanks and Jolson and has been graded SGC 40 VG 3. The balance of the set averages excellent and has better names such as Joe Cobb (Our Gang), Wm Hart, Ben Turpin, Oliver Hardy, Tex Maynard, Harry Langdon, Adolf Menjou, Wm Powell, Gary Cooper, Buster Keaton, Eddie Cantor, Lon Chaney, WC Fields, Hoot Gibson, Ken Maynard, Wm Boyd, Buck Jones, Will Rogers, John Barrymore. There are 4 additional color variations (fr-gd) and there is a similar and equally rare Anonymous Exhibit Company from a very similar set called “Movie Stamp Pictures” also included.

Lot 383.  Circa 1930 Amos & Andy near set of 14 (of 16), missing #1 and #15. Also includes 9 color variations, a total of 23 cards. Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll’s (card #3) beloved radio show which became a top TV show of the fifties. A very rare set with 17 cards excellent or ex-mt and the balance very good.

Lot 384.  1927 W451 Charles Lindbergh near set of 15. Rare offering of 15 of the 16 cards in this set showing the American Hero who flew from New York to Paris. Photos show Lindbergh, “The Spirit of St. Louis” and one with his mother. The missing card is “Plucky Lindbergh ready to hop off”. Condition breakdown: 6 cards excellent, 8 cards very good (some with paste remains on blank back), 1 card good;

Lot 385.  1928 W454 Benito Mussolini set of 16. One of the rarest of all the non-sport Exhibit sets. This is the first time I’ve seen a set offered at auction. There are 11 vertical cards and 5 horizontal cards of the Italian dictator showing him in and out of military dress. The cards all have a violet tint (as issued) and are excellent+ to near mint.

Lot 386.  Collection of 263 1930-1975 Arcade cards of Entertainers, Music, Radio and TV stars. The collection includes a 1940’s set of 32 Band Leaders from the Mutoscope Company in near mint condition with postcard backs, A set of 32 Recording artists from 1965, a set of 32 Male TV stars from 1975 and a corresponding set of 16 Female stars. These were the last sets produced by the Exhibit Supply Co. In addition there are 11 Radio stars from 1930-1950 and 108 Radio and TV stars from the ‘50’s. Some rare and seldom seen exhibits include Walter Winchell, Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll, Ethel Merman, Count Basie, Xavier Cugat, Guy Lombardo, Abbott & Costello, Milton Berle, Hal Hodge (Capt. Video), Martin & Lewis, Frank Sinatra, Shirley Temple, etc. Condition is mostly near mint or better with a few lesser. A detailed summary is available on request.

Lot 387.  Astounding collection of 277 1940-1954 Mutoscope and exhibit artist pin-up cards including 4 complete sets. There are 9 different issues in this group, the first seven are Mutoscope Company of America and the last two are Exhibit Company issues. The Mutoscopes are as follows: 1940 Glamour Girls complete set of 32, 1941 All-American Girls near set of 25 (of 32), 1942 Yankee Doodle Girls partial set of 18 (of 32), 1943 Hotcha Girls complete set of 65 including the rare “My Driver’s License”, 1944 Follies Girls complete set of 32, 1945 Artist Pin Up Girls complete set of 64, 1946 very rare Meyer Levin pin up Girls partial set of 11 (of 32); The two Exhibit Company issues, both of which are very scarce are 1952-54 Calendar Girls II partial set of (18) and the 1952-54 Slick Chick Twins partial set of 12 (of 32). The last issue is a divided card with two pictures on each and has a pencil notation of price on the rear. The condition is spectacular with almost all cards being ex-mt to near mint with just a few exceptions. Lot 388.  A paper Proof of the W424-1A 1950 Calendar Girls by the Mutoscope Company. A visual masterpiece. The original Calendar Girls set was Mutoscope’s rarest set in their issues of the 1950’s and each card in the 32 card set is valued at $75 in the new Non-Sports Bible by Dr. James Watson. The sheet measures 28 1/2” x 22” is in a top loader and will be mailed flat.

Lot 389.  A circa 1952-4 paper proof of the W424-1C Slick Chick Twins by the Exhibit Company, shortly after their acquisition of Mutoscope. Another 32 card set, although the appearance of 2 illustrations on each card (thus “twins”) give the appearance of 64 cards. The 32 cards are valued at $25 each in the new Non-Sports Bible by Dr. Watson. Visually spectacular, the sheet measures 28 1/2” x 22” is in a top loader and will be mailed flat.

Lot 390.  1925-1972 Collection of 324 “Novelty” Exhibits cards including 272 cards in 10 sets of 16, 32 or 64 cards. The sets include 1940 Mutoscope Licenses (32 cards), 1941 Your Ideal Love Mate (32), 1941 Blind Dates (32), 1942 Gloom Chasers (16), 1943 Army Frolics (16), 1944 Army Merry Making (16), 1944-5 Army Camp Cartoons (32), 1956 Magic Series (16), 1960 Whines & Jeers (64), and 1972 Car-Toons (16). The remaining 52 cards are all pre-1942. Almost all the cards are ex+-mt to near mint. There is a mixture of blank and postcard backs. Lot 391.  1925-1972 Collection of 474 “Historic” cards including 304 cards in 8 sets of 16, 32 or 64 cards. Earlier cards include 6 rare Pirate cards from 1925 (Captain Kidd), 17 from the Indian series of 1938, 34 photos from the 1945-45 World War II series, and 18 cards with action from Korea. The sets include 1951-3 Jet Planes (64), 1958 Davy Crocket (16), 1958 New Jet Planes (64), 1958-9 Dream Cars (32), 1962-3 Show Cars/Hot Rods (32), 1963-6 Astronauts (32), 1963-6 Astronauts with 8 wrong backs (32), 1972 Show Cars/Hot Rods (32). There is also a near set of 1960-70 Sports Cards of 63, missing 1. There is a mixture of blank and postcard backs. Almost all the cards are ex+-mt to near mint. Lot 392.  A large collection of 459 “Movie Star” arcade cards from 1920-1966. The large majority are from 1930 and before and features stars such as Charlie Chaplin (5 cards), Our Gang cards (10-12), Rudolph Valentino (2) and Mary Pickford (6). Also Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, Lon Chaney, Clara Bow, Norma Shearer, Ben Turpin, Lionel Barrymore, Jean Harlow, Will Rogers, Betty Davis, Jimmy Stewart and many more. Lot 393.  Monstrous collection of 895 “Cowboy” arcade cards from 1920-1966. Western heroes from Will Rogers to Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and Tom Mix (there are at least 62 cards of Mix), multiple cards of Hoot Gibson, Buck Jones, William S Hart, Buffalo Bill, Ken Maynard Tim McCoy, The Lone Ranger and Tonto and many more. There are 69 diversified issues and 8 complete sets of 16 (2 sets) or 32 (6 sets) cards. All the sets are from 1950 on. There is a mixture of blank and postcard backs. The cards range from very good to excellent to virtually all ex-mt to near mint in the 1940’s and after. A complete listing of all the issues with pertinent information is available and recommended.

Lot 394.  A large collection of 366 “Photo Pin Up” exhibit cards from the early 1900’s to 1965. Cards from 31 issues including pinups in and out of exotic costumes, Mack Sennett beach scenes, Earl Carroll vanities, stage scenes, a Mutoscope risqué set from the early twenties. Few models are identified but there is a rare Marilyn Monroe (nr mt). The condition average excellent but a good number of the cards have a rubber stamp date on the back, mostly from the 1920’s. Lot 395.  Two circa early 1950’s paper Exhibit sheets featuring Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor. Each sheet shows 32 exhibits and in addition to Monroe and Taylor, highlights are Rita Moreno, Ava Gardner, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Betty Grable, Lucille Ball, Ava Gardner and Jane Russell. Both sheets are in top loaders. Near mint.

Lot 396.  A group of 12 sheets of 32 cards from Exhibit Company featuring various subjects from 1939 to 1950. Nine of the sheets are full card stock and include Salutation Cowboys, “Your Ideal Love Mate”, Bikini Bathers, New Art Posters with Lili St. Cyr, New Jet Planes, Sports Cars with some Exhibit Co. markings, TV Cowboys with James Arness, Chuck Connors and Lorne Greene, Beach Bunnies and TV actors with markings by the Exhibit Company. The 3 Proof sheets are New Mannequins, New Art Portraits as above with Lili St. Cyr and TV Cowboys with Roy Rogers and John Wayne, All the sheets, both paper and card stock, are in top loaders and are in ex-mt condition with note of the two with markings.
