Lot 376.  1925 Champions Exhibit Advertising Display. The 27” x 12 1/2’ advertising display is the only one I’ve ever seen and is a must for the Exhibit card collector. The 1925 Champions exhibit set was the first issued featuring athletes other than baseball players. Called the “World’s Champions”, the set featured Babe Ruth but mostly consisted of Olympic athletes from around the world. There are twenty of the 32 cards displayed, each of which has been slightly trimmed to fit the exhibit. Included are Dempsey (lower left), a hockey player, and among the better known names, Johnny Weismuller, Ed “Stranger” Lewis, Gar Wood, Charles Paddock and Charles Jewtraw. A 1 3/4” strip has been pasted across the bottom four cards indicating “1c “ on each side with instructions in the middle. The display is professionally framed to 29” x 14 1/2”.

Lot 377.  1948 Exhibit Co. Set of 32 Champions in black and white. The original set issued in 1948 with 32 black and white cards. The set included 14 cards which would not be repeated in the 1949 set and are somewhat more desirable. Set includes 10 football, 3 basketball, 2 Hockey, 2 Boxing and 15 other sports. Highlights: Mikan (ex+), Baugh (vg), Bentleys (nr mt), Cook (ex+), Dempsey (ex), Durnan (ex+-mt), Graham (ex), Harder (ex-mt), Louis (ex-mt), Luckman (ex+), Lujack (ex-mt), Turner (ex-mt), Van Buren (ex-mt). Balance: 4 cards near mint, 13 cards excellent or ex-mt, 1 cards very good 1 card good.

Lot 378.  Collection of 26 1952 Wheaties cards and 12 panels from the 1930’s to a group from 1952. 1936 Series 5 “How to Play ...” Joe Medwick (strip cut from right side); 1937 Series 8 Earl Averill (vg-ex); 1937 Series 8 Bob Feller (fair, cut short); 1937 Series 9 Color Series - Tommy Bridges showing front, end and back panels (ex-mt); 1938 Series 10 “Biggest Thrills...” Charlie Gehringer showing front, end and back panels (ex-mt), Paul Waner (cut badly at top); 1939 Series 12 “Personal Pointers” Ernie Lombardi (vg-ex), Jimmie Foxx (gd); 1939 100 Years of Baseball - #’s 3 and 4 both with bottom panels. #3 is cut badly at top (ex); 1940 Champs of the USA -Set 10 Herman, Dawson, Inge (ex-mt); 1952 Wheaties partial Box Panel and side showing 5 full cards and 2 partial; 26 cards from 1952 including some duplicates. 10 have been cut with blue borders showing, including 5 baseball. The others, mostly neatly cut include 8 baseball. Condition ranges from good to excellent.

Lot 379.  A collection of 22 Time Magazines with sports covers. The dates range from 1932 to 1952. There are 8 baseball including Jackie Robinson, Ted Williams, Musial, Gehrig and Hubbell; 5 football, 6 tennis and 1 each of hockey, the Olympics and boxing. Seven have a mailing label and one has a torn corner (Gehrig & Hubbell). Overall condition is excellent. A detailed list of the 22 magazines is available on request.

Lot 380.  1952 Wheaties set of 64. Popular Wheaties set cut from panels on the backs of Wheaties boxes. Includes 2 drawings (one action, one portrait) of several selected stars from the major sports including Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Roy Campnaella, Yogi Berra, Otto Graham, Bob Waterfield, Ben Hogan, George Mikan, etc. Almost all are neatly cut and are excellent.
