Lot 300.  6 Complete magazines with illustrated baseball material. October 13, 1892 issue of Frank Leslie’s Illustrated with 40 photographs of baseball action in centerfold including Keefe, Brouthers, Anson, Duffy, Connor, Duffy, Ward, Rusie, etc. (ex); April 25, 1895 issue of Leslie’s Illustrated with entire page in center showing team photo of Giants and six addition photos of players. (ex-mt); May 3, 1890 issue of The Illustrated American with a half page picture of the Brooklyn NL team with accompanying article; Two Burr McIntish Monthly from June 1904 with a panoramic of the Boston American League Champions and 5 Collegiate baseball teams (Yale, Princeton, Penn, West Point and Cornell) and also from November 1904 with the New York American League team (very good); December 23, 1905 issue of Sporting Life with Cleveland AL composite on cover.

Lot 301.  Rare 1910 Athletics Champions Yearbook. 52 page celebratory yearbook style book. 25 pages features a black and white photo of an Athletic with an accompanying biography including Ben Shibe, Mack, Plank, Bender, Collins, Baker, etc. The opposite pages contain advertising. In very good condition with a few pages smaller (as printed).

Lot 302.  Near complete run of Who’s Who in Baseball missing 2 issues. Fabulous run from the first issue in 1912 followed by the Ty Cobb issue in 1916 (there were no Who’s Who issued in 1913-1915). Only 1918 and 1920 are missing from the run, which continues through 2011. The run starts with what was believed to be a test issue in 1912 and that issue offered is in unusually nice excellent condition and is rare. The 1916 features Ty Cobb on the cover and also is in excellent condition. The issues that follow average very good, including the 1921 with Babe Ruth, which has loose covers. The 1931 has tape on the spine and is missing the back cover and the 1934 has loose covers. The condition gradually improves to excellent in the 1940’s, then ex-mt and better. A rarely offered run.

Lot 303.  A very rare 1915 advertising souvenir scorecard issued after the 1914 World Series featuring Ty Cobb. The card, which measures 13 ¾” x 5 ½”, shows cameo pictures of 16 of the A.L. Champion A’s lined up at the top. The right side of the card shows an ad for the clothier featuring Cobb in a batting stance and the left side shows AL and NL pennant winners and leading batters. The other side shows cameos for the “hitless wonders” NL Boston Champions. The balance of that side of the card is an unused scorecard. The card is in ex-mt condition.

A group of 17 books includes 7 from the Spaldings Atlhletic Library including 1898 Constitution and Playing Rules, 1906 “How to Bat”, 1915 “How to Play the Outfield”, 1917 “How to Play 2nd Base” by Evers and 1917 How to Run Bases (good with original covers), 1920 How to Pitch (good with original cover), 1935 How to Manage a Baseball team, etc., with Wilbert Robinson on loose front cover; Also a 1911 Moreland Guide with original covers; 1917 Stove League Baseball Record, very good, 1919 Wilson Baseball Guide Pamphlet with OC, 1943 Sporting News with original covers plus additional leather covers, nr mt; 1949 Sporting News Dope Book gd-vg, 1950 Knotty Problems of Baseball, good; 1944 Toledo Baseball Guide of the Mud Hens 1883-1943 (ex), 1943 Baseball Official Guide from the Office of the Commissioner; 1945 and 1946 A.S. Lot 305.  A rare and ornate 1919 Brooklyn Dodger Peace Souvenir. The inside shows on four pages, 24 Dodgers in military or civilian attire and outlining their contribution to the war. The fold out back cover shows a team picture and the cover is bound by a red, white and blue ribbon. The back cover shows some black remnants of a scrapbook.
Minimum Bid $250.


Lot 306.  Run of 55 Street and Smith Yearbooks from 1941 through 1997. From the first issue in 1941, missing only 1994 and 1995. In addition there are two duplicates in 1963 (Mantle) and 1964 for a total of 57 issues. Covers include Bob Feller on the first issue, DiMaggio on 1948, 1950 and 1951, 4 covers with Mantle, 2 with Musial & Koufax, 1 with Williams. As can be expected condition averages very good on the earlies and gradually gets better. There are small tears on the 1945 and 1949 and a few issues show some spine wear. From the mid sixties on, almost all are ex-mt. Shipping will be from the owner in California.

Lot 307.  Group of Hobby History & Pubs. Interesting group showing hobby history back to the 1960’s. Better Items include a proof copy of Rich Egan’s original “E” card handbook, Keetz’ handbook on trade cards and comic postcards, a near complete Penny Arcade run, 48 issues of the Trading Post, all 4 Sports Collectors Bibles, over 150 cards from 8 early collectors issues, 44 different Old Judge issues, etc. A complete detailed list is available on request.
