Lot 63.  1909-10 E97 C.A. Briggs Co. Cy Young Black & White Proof SGC 30 Good 2. The E97 Briggs Candy set is the most difficult of the similar color candy sets issued in the early 1900’s. Unlike the others, E97’s can be found with black-and-white, thin paper examples, which are exceedingly rare and probably preceded the color E97 issue. Some believe they are proofs. Offered here is as good an example as one can hope for. Graded 30 GOOD 2 by SGC, the card has a nicer appearance.
Winning Bid $4,189.

Lot 64.  1903 E107 Breisch-Williams Eddie Plank SGC 10 Poor 1. The E107 series was issued in a “dead” period of card issues between the Old Judge issue of the late 1880’s and the tobacco and caramel issues of 1908-1910. The E97 Plank is one of the more desired E107’s. The card has been appropriately graded SGC 10 PR 1 because of a missing piece at the top border and severe staining on the front (and rear) of the card. Still a highly desired player from a very rare set.
Winning Bid $4,290.

Lot 65.  T206 Drum back of Doc Adkins PSA VG-EX 4. Very nice well centered card with minimum wear.
Winning Bid $7,423.

Lot 66.  T206 Lenox back with Camnitz, hands on head pose, PSA Good 2. Nice example with some soiling on the back.
Winning Bid $963.

Lot 67.  1930 Fleer “Whiz-Bang” Gum Goose Goslin. From the recent find of a box of these previously unknown cards. The box consisted of 83 cards from what was an apparent set of 16. Included were 3 different baseball cards Grove, Goslin and Hartnett. Offered here is one of the four Goslins known to exist. The card is nr mt condition. The card has two tiny factory punched slits, which it is suspected, would propel the card through the air. Obviously very rare.
Minimum Bid $750.

Lot 68.  M101-8 Sporting News Dizzy Dean. Perhaps the rarest of all Sporting News issues came in 1932 and rarely offered. Only four players were issued with the highlight being the offered Dean. The large (8 ¼” x 10 ½”) premium is in remarkably nice condition appearing ex-mt but having a light crease in the bottom border and a ¼” tear.
Winning Bid $587.

Lot 69.  1934-6 R318 Batter Up Premium of Charley Gehringer. Noted on the flap of a Batter Up High number wrapper, largely unnoticed is the offer
“ALL FOR 1 CENT
1. A Large Photo Art Picture
2. A Stand Up Action Picture….
3. A Big Chew of Quality Gum”
We know about the card and the gum, but not the “Large Photo Art Picture” - until now. Incredibly rare newly identified type premium card, which measures 5” x 8”, is on glossy thin stock and has a dark red or maroon color. The back is blank. The offered Gehringer is in excellent+ condition but there are two minor creases in the upper left corner. I know of 6 others from this very rare issue. They all show the exact same pose as on the R318 Batter Up card.
Winning Bid $1,465.
