Lot 19. Matthew Brady CDV of Sam and Harry Wright, circa 1865. Sam Wright is holding a cricket paddle in the studio setting. Harry is holding a ball. Beautiful photo on the 2 1/2" x 4" card. Only fault is a 1/2" surface wrinkle at Sam’s knees which keeps the card from being near mint. Harry Wright was one of the members of the New York Knickerbockers, aided in the formation of the National Association (1871-1875), later was a manager and was a historical figure in baseball. His older brother Sam played organized baseball at least with Lowell in 1877. The rear of the card has the publisher’s stamp and famed Civil War photographer Mathew Brady’s logo.
