1889 Chicago BB Club Album.
Lot 33. 1889 Chicago BB Club Album. A magnificent 3 7/8" x 5 1/2" innovative album held together (not very well) by a ribbon through a hole at the top. Published by Pfeffer & King (that would be Fred Pfeffer, an infielder on the team and pictured in the book) and consisting of 14 pages, 13 of which are devoted to individual players. The players, a superior group, are Al Spalding, Cap Anson, Frank Dwyer, Tom Daly, Jimmy Ryan, Ed Williamson, Pfeffer, Van Haltren, Gus Krock, Tommy Burns, Charles Farrell, Mark Baldwin, Hugh Duffy and Frank Flint. The back cover carries a graphic ad for Spalding’s Sporting Goods. The book is in very good to excellent condition. Have never seen another.
