Written to Speaker ("Dear Spoke") in regard to the now famous case in which Ty Cobb and Speaker were being investigated by Judge Landis for throwing games ("…. The American League got along fine for many years before Landis stepped in and he alone has done more to disrupt the Old National Game than any person in the world.". Stovall was the first player to jump to the Federal League and recruited many others ("…I went through the mill once during the days of the Feds and signed most all players myself").
