Pins   3 Lots

Lot 63.  Three pieces relating to the Baseball Players Fraternity, one of baseball’s earliest unions. Dave Fultz was an outfielder in the early 1900’s. He had two good years with the A’s in 1901-2 and 3 mediocre ones with the Yankees in 1903-5. He took a law degree from Columbia and acquired much greater notoriety starting the Baseball Players Fraternity in 1912, partially in response to Ty Cobb’s suspension. Three items are offered here. First and foremost, an extremely rare Baseball Player’s Fraternity Pin. Red and Gold enamel and in excellent condition. Secondly, a 28 page yearbook of the BBPF from 1915, listing Officers (Fultz, Daubert, Zimmerman, Reulbach, etc), the advisory board and the Board of Directors (Fultz, Cobb, Merkle, etc), 14 pages listing the very considerable membership of the BBPF and the bylaws. The third item is a signed fan letter from David L. Fultz, on his legal stationary in 1943. He would die in 1959. A historic group. GAI/Mike Gutierrez COA.
Minimum Bid $1,000.

Lot 64.  1920 Brooklyn Dodgers Press Pin. The Dodgers fall once again, this time to Cleveland and Bill Wambsganss’ Triple Play. Very similar design to the 1916 predecessor. Very attractive in red and gold Dieges and Clust, clasp. The tiny catch for the clasp is missing. Ex-mt condition front and back.
Minimum Bid $750.

Lot 65.  Two Babe Ruth Pins and a Dizzy Dean Premium. Rarest of the three items is the 1 1/4" Play ball "Babe Ruth" Celluloid produced for the movie. The bottom of the red bordered pin is inscribed "Christy Walsh All American Sports Reels". The Pin has original paper in the back and is in near mint condition. The second Ruth item is a metal 1 1/2" badge issued as a premium by the Esso Oil co. Excellent +. Finally, a brass badge bat and ball inscribed "Dizzy Dean Winners" and issued by the Quaker Oats Company. Ex-mt.
Minimum Bid $200.
