Type Cards

  11 Lots

Lot 76.  E97 Briggs Caramel Dennis Sullivan, Boston. One of rarest cards in hobby. The card of Sullivan was produced in the E97 series with a "Chicago" designation. Interestingly Sullivan never played with Chicago. He was traded to Cleveland towards the end of 1908 and had 6 AB in 1908 with them and 2 more in 1909. The rarity is nicely centered with fresh color. There is a wrinkle in the upper left corner and there is some rubbing at the bottom through the name "Sullivan" resulting in minimal paper loss. The card is at least very good.
Minimum Bid $1,000.

Lot 77.  E104 Nadja Types 1, 2 and 3. All three styles of E104 with Nadja backs. The Hyatt card, similar to the E90-2 Hyatt is beautifully centered, has a wrinkle in the upper right and has some paper loss on the back at the upper left. The Hartsel card which shares the photo used in the D359 (and T208) Athletic set has a diagonal crease across the card and is gd-vg. The Sparks, Philadelphia card from the most desirable subset of E104, which features unique poses, is excellent, round corners and a clean back.
Minimum Bid $600.

Lot 78.  H-Unc. 1911 Gilmartin Tom Tennant. Extremely rare PCL type card. A Gilmartin doesn’t receive as much publicity of Western Playgrounds, Bishop team cards or Big Eaters but is just as rare. The large card measures 4 7/8 x 7" and is turquoise on color. Tennant is shown with the San Francisco Seals, for who he played from 1909-1911. He would play in the PCL through 1915. The card is heavily creased and is in fair-good condition The back is blank.
Minimum Bid $500.

Lot 79.  E224 Texas Tommy Type 2 — Fred Snodgrass. Extremely tough type card from the rarer style Texas Tommy. Ex+ front with some album remains on the rear.
Minimum Bid $600.

Lot 80.  E-unc. Baseball Bats, Box & Cards. Rare lot of 4 Baseball Bat cards and two panels (with sides) of a Baseball Bat Panel. Cards are Delehanty (gd), Tinker (gd), Devore (vg) and Lajoie (gd). Box Panels are good and excellent.
Minimum Bid $600.

Lot 81.  M110 Sporting Life Napoleon Lajoie. From the magnificent and rare set of 6 issued by Sporting Life. Beautiful appearing card with minor creasing in the upper left and lower right corners (in the border). Otherwise excellent.
Minimum Bid $1,000.

Lot 82.  R308-1 Tattoo Orbit #154 Al Simmons. Near perfect example of this tough self develop set which is nearly impossible to find in this quality.
Minimum Bid $200.

Lot 83.  S-81 Silk Joe Tinker. Beautifully framed with double matting. The frame measures 14" x 15" with the matte opening being 7 7/8" x 6 5/8". A couple of pinholes are apparent at the top and a couple of other imperfections at the bottom. There is a dark area suggesting if the silk were unframed more problems might be found. Because of this, we are offering "as is" with no return privilege and should be bid on based on its very nice framed appearance.
Minimum Bid $500.

Lot 84.  T205 Gold Border Oscar Stanage with Hindu back. Without question in my experience the toughest T205 back easily surpassing the Drum. Card is vg-ex and has an horizontal impression line at the bottom of the card.
Minimum Bid $500.

Lot 85.  T216 Virginia Extra Hugh Jennings. Unquestionably the most difficult of the four style T216 backs. Obviously off center and some light creasing. The color is fresh and the back is clean. Gd-vg.
Minimum Bid $500.

Lot 86.  W600 Sporting Life Jacob Beckley, Cincinnati. Beckley was in the final part of a 21 year Hall of Fame career with Cincinnati in 1902 that started with Pittsburgh in 1888. The card is ex-mt on the front though there has some paper loss on the right side of the back, totaling the size of a quarter.
Minimum Bid $600.
