Lot 10. A complete set of the M116 Sporting Life Envelopes. The M116 Sporting Life set was issued in 24 Series with 12 cards in each series and mailed in an envelope. The envelopes listed the players to be found inside with their teams. I don’t believe a set of 24 envelopes has ever been offered. Not often known is that in addition to the 24 series, Sporting Life made available additional packets of players by team. These were assigned numbers above 24. Included in this group are the envelopes for Series 50 (Phila. AL), 52 (Detroit), 54 (Boston AL), 70 (Pittsburgh), 72 (Chicago NL), 74 (Phila NL) and 76 (New York NL). These packets included rarer high series (19-24) cards and had the effect of diminishing the value of some high series cards. There are 31 envelopes in the lot. Condition ranges from poor to excellent, with most somewhere in between.
