Lot 4. Very rare Exhibit Supply Co. of America 1928 Pacific Coast League Set of 32. Don’t recall this set being offered in many years. This was the only minor league issue of the Exhibit Supply Co featuring 32 cards representing the six teams in the Pacific Coast League. The cards are blue tinted and bear a striking resemblance to the major league set of blue exhibits issued in 1928. While several players played in the majors or were about to, most notable is the card of HOF’er to be Earl Averill (ex+-mt). Other familiar names are Walter “Dusty” Mails (the Mails card game set) (ex+-mt), Jimmy Reese (ex-mt), “Ping” Bodie (ex+-mt), Smead Jolley (ex+-mt), Lyn Lary (nr mt) and several others. The Frank Shellenback card is vg, the Gordon Slade card has a pinhole and the Johnny Kerr is very lightly autographed. The balance are all ex-mt or better. As nice a set as you could hope to see.
