Lot 35. Ten volume Preston Orem series (1882-1891) — “Baseball From The Newspaper Accounts”. Most serious collectors of 19th Century are familiar with Preston Orem’s work “Baseball From the Newspaper Accounts 1845-1881”, a popular and fairly easy to find account of early baseball. Of significantly greater rarity is the eleven volumes Orem did subsequently consisting of spiral bound books. Interestingly the pages in the books are consecutively numbered and they total 628 pages. Offered here are the last nine volumes with a Xerox copy of the first volume (1882). We offered a complete set about ten years ago which went for $2,000+. We have only seen one set since.
