N302 Mayo Football. Rare and desirable "anonymous" player card from the first football set.

Lot 9. N302 Mayo Football. Rare and desirable "anonymous" player card from the first football set. Player has been identified to be John W. Dunlop in a 1997 Beckett Magazine article. It was speculated in the article that there were less than 20 known to exist. The article indicated that Dunlop won 4 varsity letters in football and coached the team's backfield after graduation for two years. All of which adds to the mystery as to why such a well known individual would be unnamed in the set with several teammates. The card has a two inch crease. There is some ink residue at the top, probably from a felt tip pen, and there is some evidence of ink at the sides. The back is as issued.
