Lot 83. H-unc. Rare unknown type for Shirley President Suspenders from apparent set of 6 cards meant for retailers. The front of the early 20th Century large card (13 1/4" x 8 1/2" shows a woman batting in uniform wearing suspenders with a very attractive baseball field background. The rear of the card lists 6 possible sports subjects. The back also carries a message for retailers "Don't give these pictures away - sell them at 25 cents each and keep the money." The cards were packed, one to a box of six suspenders, very reminiscent of Boston Garters. The manufacturer was C.A. Edgerton of Shirley, Mass. The card has chipping on the corners and a 1" tear in the left side.
