1887 St. Louis Browns Currency (scrip).

Lot 75. 1887 St. Louis Browns Currency (scrip). Baseball memorabilia in the form of currency was issued as advertising in 1887-1889 with team composites on one side. Teams found were the Chicago and Detroit of the N.L. and the Champion St. Louis Browns of the American Association. The Browns are without question the most difficult to find. Measuring 7 1.4 x 3 1/2, the front of the piece advertises Sewing Machines and shows Browns manager Gert Von Der Ahe. The rear has cameos of ten Browns including Comiskey, Carruthers, Welch and Gleason. Some minor pencil wiring in the top border on the front, otherwise excellent.
