Lot 53.  1937 Dixie Lid Black and White large size complete set of 24. One of the two Dixie Lid sets before the 1950's that featured athletes. In 1937 four baseball players (Gabby Hartnett, Joe Medwick. Carl Hubbell and Charlie Gehringer), one tennis star (Bill Tilden) and an Olympic swimmer (Georgia Coleman). The movie stars include Bill Boyd (Hopalong Cassidy), Gene Autry, Clark Gable, Jean Harlow and Myrna Loy. All the lids have the tab and are at least excellent though most are ex-mt. All the baseball are ex-mt.

Lot 54.  1937 Dixie Lid Wine small size colored set of 24 with 16 having original paper including the 4 baseball. The four baseball in neat mint condition are Hubbell, Gehringer, Hartnett and Medwick. Other important lids with original paper are Champion swimmer Georgia Coleman, Clark Gable, Gene Autry and Carole Lombard. All other lids are excellent and better including tennis star Bill Tilden.

Lot 55.  1938 Dixie Lid large size set of 24 with all having original paper. An amazing set which probably doesn't exist anywhere else. Every card has the tissue paper attached to the lid as issued. The set includes 4 baseball players (Feller, Foxx, Moses and Hubbell) and 2 Football players (Nagurski and Baugh), Ice skater Sonja Henie, Tex Ritter, William Boyd, Gary Cooper and Gene Autry. All have matching Dixie Lid Ice Cream Company backs. As nice a set as you'll ever find.

Lot 56.  1954 Dixie Lids group of 31 of the extremely rare 2 1/4" small lids. The 1954 Dixie set(s) are the stereo view issue depicting 18 players, each with a Left and Right side as marked on the Lids. They exist in three sizes, the usually found 2 11/16" size and a much smaller, very rare issue and a much larger, very rare issue. The small lids measure 2 1/4". Our consignor, a life long Dixie Lid collector, collected these exclusively for over 40 years and could not complete the small set. The group consists of a representation of all 18 players and 31 of the 36 possible lids are present. Five subjects have only one lid (Kiner, Kluszewski, Minoso, Parnell and Rosen, ), the others have both the left and right. Only three lids have their tabs missing (Hoeft, Irvin and Parnell). Lot 57.  1954 Dixie Lids group of 26 of the extremely rare large lids. The 1954 Dixie set(s) are the stereo view issue depicting 18 players, each with a Left and Right side as marked on the Lids. They exist in three sizes, the usually found 2 11/16" size and a much smaller, very rare issue and a much larger, very rare issue. The large lids measure 3 3/16". Our consignor, a life time Dixie Lid collector, collected these exclusively for over 40 years and could not complete the large set. The group consists of a representation of 16 of the 18 players (only Irvin and Kiner are missing) and 26 of the 36 possible lids are present. Ashburn, Courtney, Gordon, Hoeft, Kluszewski, Minoso, O'Connell, Roe, Schoendienst, Slaughter and Zernial have both L and R lids. Five (Courtney, Gordon, O'Connell, Rosen and Zernial) have the original paper and in true mint condition, though the Rosen has a slight crease. 13 lids are missing the tabs.
