Lot 56. 1954 Dixie Lids group of 31 of the extremely rare 2 1/4" small lids. The 1954 Dixie set(s) are the stereo view issue depicting 18 players, each with a Left and Right side as marked on the Lids. They exist in three sizes, the usually found 2 11/16" size and a much smaller, very rare issue and a much larger, very rare issue. The small lids measure 2 1/4". Our consignor, a life long Dixie Lid collector, collected these exclusively for over 40 years and could not complete the small set. The group consists of a representation of all 18 players and 31 of the 36 possible lids are present. Five subjects have only one lid (Kiner, Kluszewski, Minoso, Parnell and Rosen, ), the others have both the left and right. Only three lids have their tabs missing (Hoeft, Irvin and Parnell).
