1954 Dixie Lids group of 26 of the extremely rare large lids.

Lot 57. 1954 Dixie Lids group of 26 of the extremely rare large lids. The 1954 Dixie set(s) are the stereo view issue depicting 18 players, each with a Left and Right side as marked on the Lids. They exist in three sizes, the usually found 2 11/16" size and a much smaller, very rare issue and a much larger, very rare issue. The large lids measure 3 3/16". Our consignor, a life time Dixie Lid collector, collected these exclusively for over 40 years and could not complete the large set. The group consists of a representation of 16 of the 18 players (only Irvin and Kiner are missing) and 26 of the 36 possible lids are present. Ashburn, Courtney, Gordon, Hoeft, Kluszewski, Minoso, O'Connell, Roe, Schoendienst, Slaughter and Zernial have both L and R lids. Five (Courtney, Gordon, O'Connell, Rosen and Zernial) have the original paper and in true mint condition, though the Rosen has a slight crease. 13 lids are missing the tabs. Detailed condition listing available on request.
