Lot 18. Set of 14 baseball player prints run in the Stage, a Philadelphia Theatrical and Sporting newspaper in 1889. Very rare set, among the first newspaper issues with photographic images, replacing woodcuts. Players featured are from the 2 Philadelphia Clubs and the New York Giants and included Tim Keefe, Buck Ewing, John Ward, Wilbert Robinson, Harry Stovey, A.B. Sanders, Gus Weyhing, Charles Buffington, Daniel Casey, John Clements, Edward Seward, William Schriver, L.M. Cross and Denny Lyons. The prints measured approximately (9" x 12" and filled the page. They ran from May 25, 1889 to August 31, 1889. They are all shrink wrapped on heavy boards and are in excellent condition.
