Exhibit Supply Co. 1931-2 30 Four-in-1 set of 32 (Set 9).

Lot 168. Exhibit Supply Co. 1931-2 30 Four-in-1 set of 32 (Set 9). Unquestionably the most difficult of the four-in-one exhibit sets. The fact that it contains 32 cards only doubles the difficulty. Don McPherson, a lifelong collector of exhibits, started collecting from the Arcade machines in 1930's and it took him over 65 years to finish this set. Easily recognizable as the only baseball Exhibit set with the Coupon prizes back (though occasionally cards can be found blank backed). The set contains a card of a highly sought Jewish player, J. Goldman of Cleveland, and is the second most valuable card in the set. 16 of the cards have the name "Richard Krotz" written in ink at the top of the rear of the card. These are marked by an "*". Highlights: Lary-Ruth-Reese-Gehrig (ex*), Foxx-Cocrane-Grove-Haas (ex+), Dickey-Lazzeri-Pennock-Coombs (ex+*), Hunnefield-Goldman-Morgan-W.Ferrell (vg), O'Farrell-Ott-Terry-Fitzsimmons (ex+*), Hartnett-Stevenson-Wilson-Hornsby (ex front but album remains and paste stains on rear). Balance: 24 cards excellent (13*), 2 cards very good.
