Spalding Athletic Library Track & Field Books This collection of 17 books (16 Spalding plus one Wilson) includes two Olympic Games editions, 1916 (with full page photo of Jim Thorpe) and 1921. The rest are Almanacs for 1916 and 1941, a 1914 Rules book, and a 1928 Guide for Girls; AAU Constitution, several "How To" instructional books (hurdles, sprints, middle distances, high jump), a 1939 IC4A handbook and a 1906 Weight Throwing guide. Condition is mixed with a few of the earlier books Good to Vg but at least 12 of the later ones Ex or better. The Wilson Athletic Library book is The Track Events #52 (1923) and is Ex. Eight Spalding Athletic Library Swimming books, 1903-1937. A rare 1903 "How to Swim" is Ex and a 1919 version plus Swimming Guides from 1918, 1926 and 1937 all are Vg-Ex. A 1926 "Speed Swimming" instructional grades about Ex and a 1922 "Science of Swimming" is Vg. "Swimming for Women" from 1931 is Ex. Ten Spalding Athletic Library Tennis books, 1906-1929. All but one of these books is in at least Ex condition. There are two "Strokes & Science of Tennis," a 1906 Ex and 1920 Vg-Ex. The other volumes are a 1913 "How to Play, 1924 "The Kid," 1928 "Tennis Annual," 1928 "How to Build a Tennis Court," 1929 "Tennis for the Junior, Club Player, Expert," 1933 "Errors and Remedies, " 1933 "Tennis Simplified," and 1935" Lessons in Tennis." Many editions are loaded with photos of the top players of their era. Spalding Athletic Library Miscellaneous books, 53 different, 1892 to 1935. A highly attractive group of 52 different books covering various sports and pastimes including archery, athletic activities for women (3 - all with scarce charts intact), bowling on the green, camping (3), calisthenic drills, dumb bells, exercise (2), fencing, field hockey, gymnastics (4), handball (3), ice hockey (3), indian clubs (3), indoor polo, jiu jitsu, lacrosse, lawn sports, physical training, pushball, quoits (2), rowing, ice skating, roller skating, soccer, tumbling, volleyball (2), plus a few others. Highlights include an 1892 book on use of Indian Clubs and Dumb Bells (Ex-Mt) and 1899 Gymnastics (Vg-Ex) plus Canadian and English editions about Badminton.
