Lot 115. W501 1922 near set of 117 missing 3. Missing are #'s 11, 23, 35 (all commons). Fifteen cards (9-Vitt, 10-Ruel, 22-Wambnganss, 34-Bush, 46-Sheely, 59-Alexander, 72-Kelly, 82-Grimm, 84-Adams, 91-Holke, 94-Myers, 96-W. Robinson, 109-Smith, 119-Nehf and 120-Fewster) do not have W501's symbolic "G-4-22" in the upper left corner or the number in the upper right corner and therefore are W575's and not W501's. Since W501's were issued in strips, it is not unusual for these to be found with irregular cuts and there are several in this ex-mt appearing collection that have been so cut. Highlights: 4-Sisler (ex-mt), 6-Heilman (ex-mt), 8-Cobb (ex-mt), 17-Johnson (ex-mt), 19-Speaker (ex-mt), 38-Collins (ex), 49-Ruth (ex), 62-Frisch (ex), 73-McGraw (ex), 103-McGraw (ex-mt), 104-Frisch (ex), 114-Hornsby (ex-mt). Balance: All are excellent or better with note to the miscutting of the cards. The collection is in high quality black album pages in a three ring binder.
