Lot 198.  Massive collection of 304 post cards almost all comics. Several sets and partial sets and many rarities. Highlights include a set of 4 DeWitt Wheeler brother Noah cards (ex+), 31 embossed cards with color variations, 4 The National Game PC’s (ex-mt), 2 Robert Robinson including the baseball, Set of 6 Fan Series cards, “A Home Run” from the Red Belt series, 2 leather post cards, 1 Ruckenheim Cracker Jack bears card, 6 Crosby’s and 7 Trade Cards. Condition averages very good to excellent with a few worse and many better. Should be viewed.

Lot 199.  U.S. Souvenir real photo postcard of the 1904 New York Giants. Rare, but famous and often published team composite of the Championship team, which included Manager McGraw, Roger Bresnahan, Dummy Taylor, Hooks Wiltse, Bill Dahlen, Leon Ames, etc. Excellent+ front with pencil identifications on rear.

Lot 200.  Unusual and rare Group of 18 New York State town and school teams. 3 are real photo and 7 were sent through the mail. Dates range from 1903-1913. Includes Hornell, Glen Cove, Brashear, Red Hook, Pleasant Valley, Honeoye Falls, South Otselic, East Aurora, So. New Berlin, Denon, Bath, Westport, Angola, Rushville, Schenectady, Fish’s Eddy, etc. Almost all in excellent condition.

Includes a very ornate Pittsfield, PA, Portis, Kansas, Ct, Othello, WA, Brimfield, MA, Dayton, OR, Jefferson, Oh, Auburn, ME, Burr Oak, KS, Bethlehem, NH, Hubbard Lake, MI, Brockton, MA Cambridge, MA, Lyman, WA, Phila. PA Dalton, ?, Schrewsbury PA.

Lot 202.  PC773-4 1908 Detroit Free Press Ty Cobb. Far more difficult than the Topping Cobb or the Rose Company postcard of Cobb, a similar card of Cobb in lesser condition brought $5,704 in our last auction. This Cobb is very well centered, with sharp corners and a near perfect appearance. Only flaws are two tiny stains or hinge marks in the upper right and lower left corners (see scan) where the card was obviously mounted in an album. A dream card.

Lot 203.  PC773-4 1908 Detroit Free Press Hughie Jennings. Nearly perfect card of the Hall of Famer, except for two tiny stains or hinge marks in the upper left and lower right corners (see scan) where the card was obviously mounted in an album. Centering is perfect.

Lot 204.  PC773-4 1908 Detroit Free Press Sam Crawford. Just about a perfect card of the Detroit Hall of Fame outfielder. Well centered, sharp corners, perfectly clean back.

Lot 205.  Spectacular Group of 8 1908 Detroit Free Press Detroit Tigers. The cards include Bill Donovan, Matty McIntyre, George Mullen, Ed Killian, Ed Willett, Boss Schmidt, Ed Summers and Charlie O’Leary. Seven of the eight are near mint or better. The only exception is Mullen which appears near mint but has the two tiny corner stains on the rear as described above on the Cobb and Jennings.

Lot 206.  Van Oeyen real photo Post Card of Napoleon Lajoie graded SGC 40 VG 3. Extremely rare and may be one of a kind! Shows a close up portrait of the Cleveland Star and Hall of Famer by the very famous baseball photographer Louis Van Oeyen. The card is unused and appears near mint, but there is a 1” hairline crease in the left of Lajoie’s head which is very difficult to see. The card is dated 1905.

Lot 207.  1906 Winthrop Moving Picture Post Card of Mordecai Three Fingered Brown. Very rare! An extremely rare Thumb Movie of Mordecai Brown is part of a post card set featuring major league baseball players, mostly New York Giants. The Post card which measures 4” x 2 1/4” and is 3/8” thick contains 24 pages which, when fanned, show a complete pitch from Brown. The Post card reads on the front “Three Fingered Brown The Famous Twirler of The Chicago National League Baseball Team For Directions See LAST LEAF WINTHROP MOVING PICTURE POST CARD”. The inside back cover has the simple directions. The Front Cover has “No. 24” indicating there are at least 24 subjects and I would guess 50-75% of them have never been seen. The “card” is in at least very good condition.

Lot 208.  Three 1906 Sporting Life team Postcards from the 16 card set showing all the Major League Teams. All cards in the set utilize the composite images used in the Sporting Life W600 13” supplements (see lot 7). 1906 Boston N.L, small scrape in blank area at top right, otherwise excellent. 1906 St. Louis A.L including Rhody Wallace, excellent condition. 1906 Washington A.L, excellent condition.

Lot 209.  1909 W.M. Dick Accordion style postcard of the Champion Pittsburgh Pirates. One of the greatest baseball postcards ever made. The front states “Extension Post Card” with the used address portion on the right. The left shows Pirate Manager and Left Fielder Fred Clarke and is postmarked “Pittsburgh, Mar 8, 1910, some 5 months after the Pirates World Series victory. The rear shows a familiar scene of Forbes Field. The inside, which can be opened in a variety of ways shows 17 other panels with Pirates, including of course, Honus Wagner. It is the ultimate metamorphic post card. A small flap which extended from the Clarke panel is loose. The card is very good on the outside and excellent inside.

Lot 210.  PC760 Rose Company graded postcard of Honus Wagner PSA AUTHENTIC. A Very nice, very good appearing postcard has been graded authentic because it was used. i.e. Sent through the mail with a pencil written message. One of the most popular post card sets and the Wagner, as well as all the other Pittsburgh players, are among the more difficult to find.

Lot 211.  PC796 Anonymous Sepia high grade Postcard of George Gibson PSA 5. From the very popular series of 25. This postcard appears to be as close to mint as a postcard could be. It’s a striking example of how poorly postcards and exhibits are graded.

Lot 212.  1907 Metamorphic folding Baseball Mail Card (postcard) for the 1907 New York Giants. Card shows a 1907 National League schedule on inside front cover and a metamorphic foldout showing six flaps, each with two players on both sides except McGraw who is alone and 2 scorecards. A total of 19 players. The players include McGraw, Mathewson, Ferguson, Taylor, McGinnity, Wiltse, Ames, Bresnahan, Bowerman, Corcoran, McGann, Dahlern, Devlin, Strang, Shay, Shannon, Donlin, Brown and Seymour. Inside back cover is blank and address portion is unused. Postally used in 1907. There is minor transparent staining on the edge of the rear of the front cover, otherwise excellent.
