Lot 54.  W504 1925 Universal Toy New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodger sets. Universal Toy issued three sheets of cards featuring the 3 New York baseball teams and Washington. They consisted of a large team picture and 16 small numbered pictures in four rows featuring players of that team. It is not unusual to find the players cut from the sheets and offered as cards. In this lot are complete 16 card sets of the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants. The Giant set includes McGraw, Jennings, Frisch, Kelly, Wilson and Youngs and the Dodgers include Grimes, Vance and Wheat. Almost all of the cards are neatly cut although differing in size. Two cards have slight damage including Wilson.
Winning Bid $393.

Lot 55.  W554 complete set of 18. Unusually large 5 x 7 set of cards from an unknown maker. A set of Sepia pictures of the stars of 1930. The set is complete including the rare Waite Hoyt card, which the price guides do not recognize as being rare. Hoyt is the only horizontal card in the group. Interestingly the Ruth card is the best condition card in the group. Highlights: Ruth (nearly ex-mt. Tiny corner wrinkle upper right corner margin), Gehrig (vg front, some paste stains, a signature and minor paper loss on rear), Hoyt (vg-ex), Foxx (vg-ex). . Lot 56.  R313A Gold Medal “Extended Set” of 6. For reasons that remain a mystery, 6 additional cards were produced of 6 additional players which are remarkably rare with only a few copies known of each. Possibly the first time all six have ever been offered. The six players are Al Simmons (excellent front with some album page remains of the rear), Chuck Klein (hairline 1” crease and with some album page remains of the rear), William Rogell (excellent), George Earnshaw (near excellent),Odell Hale (excellent), and Joe Vosmik (some creasing in two corners on front, and used as a postcard on the rear.
