Lot 13. 1888 Sketches of the New York and Brooklyn Base Ball Clubs. Richard Fox expanded his 1887 Sketch book to include both New York teams, adding the Brooklyn Club of the American Association. The Giants were National League Champions and Brooklyn finished 2nd in their league. The cover has been changed, featuring an antique woodcut of a game in progress. Once again there is an 11 page history, and inside 20 Giants are featured on individual pages with Manager Mutrie and the same six Hall of Famers that were featured in the preceding year. Seventeen Brooklyn players were featured highlighted by Dave Orr and Bob Carruthers, two players with Hall of Fame credentials. The rarely seen guide has some chipping in the corners and wear on the spine but is otherwise in very nice condition.
