Lot 180.  1913 George Duncan hand written note on his ornate 8” x 10” letterhead. Written to a Richard Simpson, whose grandson sold the note/letter with a fascinating associative note on Duncan and Simpson’s grandfather (“Robert Simpson of Carnoustie”).  Duncan was a Professional Golfer, a clubmaker, an architect and won several European Opens and captained the Ryder Cup in 1929. The letter is accompanied by the mailing envelope along with the previously written note of the grandson.

Lot 181.  Jerome Travers signed 1935 check. Very tough signature of the 1915 U.S. Open Champion and 4 time U.S. Open winner. Check is dated April 30, 1935. Travers died in 1951 at the age of 64.

Lot 182.  John Henry Taylor autographed advertising postcard. Signed J.H. Taylor, as usual, on this 5 1/2” x 3 1/2” card. The lower left portion has JH Taylor in black ink with “Open Champion Golfer” below and “1894 - 1895 - 1900 – 1909 – 1913” below that. To the left is “Open French Champion” with “1908 – 1909” below in his hand. The reverse shows some paper residue and paper loss on the blank back.

Lot 183.  Interesting group of Autographs from Chick Evans Birthday Party. A large group of 29 pencil signatures including several famous golfers on a full piece of 1940 Chicago Bears stationary. Included is the invitation from the Western Golf Association and Edgewater Golf Club who hosted the event and the original mailing envelope postmarked June 29, 1040. The autographed sheet in inscribed at the top  “From the gang at Chick Evans birthday party” and is signed by notable golfers, Chick Evans, Horton Smith, Sammy Snead, Ellsworth Vines, Jim Ferrier and Johnny Bulla. In excellent condition.
