Lot 7. PC-Unc Collection of a near set of 22 1932 N.Y. Giant Schedule Post Cards including both Hubbells and original mailing envelope. Unusual and very difficult set showing an original photo of a Giant player with some biographical data and a Giant 1932 Home schedule on the back. Speculation is they were sent to season ticket holders and/or were handouts at the Giants ticket office or, based on the existence of this envelope (only one we’ve ever seen) were sent with mail order purchases of tickets. The only known missing player is Walker. Hall of Famers are two Carl Hubbells, Travis Jackson, Freddy Lindstrom, Mel Ott and Bill Terry. The explanation of 2 Hubbells is very simple. The cards are printed on different stocks of a paper and they are different. One is on a high quality white paper as is the rest of the set and this is the more difficult one. One is on a high rag content, course paper and was obviously used in a marketing campaign and is very common. The writing on the cards are different one says “10 minutes from NY side of George Washington Bridge”, the other says 15 minutes. The common one invites anyone to “Send stamped, self addressed envelope to Polo Grounds for picture of your favorite player”. The cheaper Hubbell is the only card which has a schedule at the top of the back when turned over.
