Lot 217. 1949 Blue Exhibit Bill Durnan mystery card SGC graded SGC 40 VG 3. Bill Durnan, Montreal Canadian goaltender, was issued as part of the 32 card Black and White Champions set. In 1949, the Exhibit Company replaced 12 subjects and changed the poses of two ice skaters, Dick Button and Barbara Scott. A checklist of the 32 blue tint 1949 cards is available on request but it does not include Bill Durnan, which has been recently discovered with a blue tint. None of the other 1948 Black and white cards that were not issued in 1949 have ever been seen with a blue tint. The offered Durnan card, with distinct blue tint, is the only one I have seen. It has been graded SGC 40 VG 3, apparently because of minor corner wear.
