V355 1936 World Wide Gum set of 135 with the 3 key cards SGC graded.

Lot 41. V355 1936 World Wide Gum set of 135 with the 3 key cards SGC graded. A fabulous set! Very rarely offered as a set and don’t recall the last time it was.  The 1936 World Wide Gum, different from the two previous issues by being black and white and by offering original photos, includes two very highly sought after cards. First the Joe DiMaggio rookie card has been known to go for $9,400 in poor-fair condition. Even rarer is the #135-Phil Weintraub card, which for a long time was not known to exist. Earlier checklists of V355 will show it as a 134 card set. In addition, Weintraub carries extra desirability as a player Jewish collectors covet, who is extremely hard to find and has been known to sell for thousands of dollars. Highlights: 1-Dykes (vg), 2-P. Waner (nr mt but short), 6-Vaughan (ex-mt), 7-Terry (ex), 13-Klein (ex), 16-Herman (ex), 19-Dean (vg-ex), 25-Durocher (vg-ex), 34-Dickey (ex), 39-Hoyt (ex-mt), 41-Greenberg (vg), 42-Gehringer (ex+), 43-Goslin (ex-mt), 45-Cochrane (gd), 46-Cronin (vg-ex), 47-Foxx (ex), 51-DiMaggio (SGC 40 VG 3), 53-McCarthy (vg), 55-Cuyler (vg-ex), 56-Gomez (ex), 57-Hartnett (ex-mt), 65-Lindstrom (ex), 73-Manush (ex), 75-Medwick (vg-ex), 77-Simmons (gd-vg), 85-Bottomley (ex), 88-Grove (ex-mt), 93-Haines (ex-mt), 94-Hafey (ex-mt), 96-Gehrig (SGC VG-EX 4), 102-Ruffing (ex+), 107-Frisch (ex), 108-McKechnie (ex-mt), 110-Mack (ex), 113-Appling (ex), 124-Schalk (ex-mt), 129-Maranville (ex-mt), 130-Harris (ex), 131-Lopez (ex),135-Weintraub (SGC 50 VG-EX 4).
