Lot 43. 1935-6 Diamond Matchbooks set of 156 and an additional 25 variations. A different design featured a white silhouette superimposed on the player bios on the backs of the covers. The variations all contain varieties in the biographical write up indicating fairly clearly that the set was issued over two years. Four of the players, Bejma, Hadley, Herman and Parmalee show distinct differences in poses and Spoher refers to the team as “Bees on one and “Braves” on the other, which are not mentioned in the Standard Catalog list. There are 22 Hall of Famers including Bottomley, Cuyler, Dean, Durocher (2), Frisch, Hartnett (2), Herman (2), Hoyt, Hubbell, Klein (2), Lindstrom, Lombardi, McKechnie, Medwick (2), Ott and L. Waner, P. Waner. Only 3 of the covers are missing the striker (Clifton, Hansen, Parmalee) and 4-5 others have some paper loss in the striker. They covers have the usual creases by the fold and some others display some other creases. Condition is generally very good.
