Lot 252.  1918 California Stanford Game, the “game that never was”. Our consignor, a well known collector, and long time UC Berkeley collector indicates this is the only one he has ever seen. The game was called “the game that didn’t exist”. The contest, which California won 67-0 never went in the records as an official Cal-Stanford contest. The teams hadn’t played football for 13 years. The attractive 32 page program is shaped like a football and is in excellent condition. A two page magazine account of the game and the events surrounding it is included.

Lot 253.  6 1919-1924 California-Stanford “Big Game” programs. The Stanford-California football “Big Game” resumed in 1919. Offered here are the first 6 programs for these games which were all won by California except for the 1924, which was tied. The 1919 program is 32 pages, standard size and is vg-ex; The 1920, in the shape of a football, is 48 pages and in excellent condition. The 1921 program which features Stanford Stadium on the cover is 32 pages and is in near mint condition. The 1922 program is 28 pages and has a promotion picturing Glenn “Pop” Warner on the back page. The program is in ex-mt condition; The 1923 24 page program has tape on the spine and is otherwise excellent. Finally, the 1924 program has 44 pages, is in very good condition with a loose page. Collegiate Hall of Famers that can be found in these pages are Stan Barnes, Dan McMillan, Andy Kerr, “Babe” Horrell, “Brick” Muller and Ernie Nevers.

Lot 254.  1920-1922 California “wonder team” programs from 3 games. The 1920 California football team won all 8 of its games in 1920 by an aggregate score of 532-14. Oct. 30, 1920 vs. Oregon Agricultural College, a simple 28 page program in very good-excellent condition. Cal had its toughest game of the year winning 17-7; Nov. 6, 1920 vs. Washington St, 16 page program in excellent condition, Cal won 49-0; 1922 Nov. 4, 1922 California vs. Washington State, a 32 page program in very good condition, one page has some damage;

Lot 255.  Four Programs for California - U of Washington games in 1919, 1921, 1922 and 1923. The 1919 program in the shape of a “W” is 32 pages with slight damage to the back cover, otherwise excellent. The abbreviated 1921 is 16 pages and in excellent condition; The very nice 1922 is in the shape of a football with cutouts on the cover where photos of the Washington and California team captains show through. The program is 32 pages and in excellent condition. The 1922 is 12 pages and in excellent condition.

Lot 256.  Two California – USC programs from 1921 and 1924. The 32 page program for 1921 had tape on the spine. California defeated USC on their way to an undefeated season which concluded with a 28-0 victory in the Rose Bowl. They were led by their All-American and future Hall of Famer Harold “Brick” Muller. The 16 page 1924 program was in excellent condition however two pages are loose. California led by “Babe” Horrell defeated USC 7-0 for their sixth straight victory.
