Babe Ruth’s Last Home Run Program.

Lot 107. Babe Ruth’s Last Home Run Program. The Babe hit his last Home Run in a professional game in Albany in 1938 on July 25, 1938. Larry McPhail had hired him to be the Brooklyn Dodgers 3rd Base coach in 1938. Traveling through Albany on the return from a western trip, the Dodgers had an exhibition game there. A “huge” crowd of 11,724 turned out because the Babe would play. He didn’t disappoint with a first inning Home Run amidst some suspicion the pitch was “grooved”. He walked in his final 2 appearances. The 6 page foldover program, which is in excellent condition, has a pre-printed lineup with Ruth batting cleanup, followed by Cookie Lavagetto and Leo Durocher. Ruth and Durocher were rumored to be the Dodger manager candidates for 1939. There is an accompanying 20 page booklet describing the events as well as an internet article and a Xerox of the following day’s newspaper story.
