Lot 57.  1930 Fleer “Whiz-Bang” Gum Set of 3 baseball Lefty Grove, Goose Goslin and Gabby Hartnett. From the recent find of a box of these previously unknown cards. The box consisted of 83 cards from what was an apparent set of 16. Included were 3 different baseball cards Grove, Goslin and Hartnett. Offered here is the set of 3 baseball subjects. The set is near mint. Each card has two tiny factory punched slits which it is suspected would propel the cards. Included is a pack of “Whiz Bang” Gum and 3 strings that apparently would go through the two tiny slits. One of four sets known.

Lot 58.  F279-1 1934 Quaker Oats “Ask Me” baseball card game with Instruction sheet and original mailing envelope. A deck of 26 cards in sheets, as mailed, have baseball questions on the front and back and form the heart of a game created by the Quaker Oats Company in 1934. The cards are in mint condition and come with the instruction sheet and the original mailing envelope.

Lot 61.  1950 Drakes set of 36 with three cards SGC graded. As nice a set of these as I’ve seen. The black bordered set is nearly impossible to find in high grade and this set might be as close as you can come with 75% excellent and better. In addition many Drakes cards are found with some food stains, which also hold grades down. Highlights: 5-Snider (vg), 6-Campanella (vg-ex), 11-Hodges (vg), 13-Doerr (ex+), 14-Spahn (50 VG/EX 4), 19-Reese (SGC 60 EX 5), 24-Berra (ex-mt), 25-Rizzuto (SGC 80 EX/NM 6), 36-Slaughter (vg-ex). Balance: 13 cards ex-mt or better, 9 cards excellent, 5 cards very good.

Lot 62.  1952 Royal Pudding set of 24 with 14 variations. The Standard Catalog lists 24 different cards and a total of 26 variations of the cards. 8 cards are known only one way. Offered here is a world Class set including variations of Musial, Reese, Dom DiMaggio, Spahn, Pafko, Seminick, Brissie, Rizzuto, Scarborough (2 different), Truck, Sain and Sisler. Condition is also quite impressive with about 60% (23 cards excellent or better in a set that is nearly always notoriously miscut). There are also xeroxes for 4 other variations. The Standard Catalogs shows no differential in price for the variations although it is obvious to anyone who collected these there are significant differences. Highlights: Musial (vg-ex), Reese (ex, fair), Kell (good), Dom DiMaggio (gd-ex, gd), Spahn (ex+-mt, nr mt), Rizzuto (nr mt, good), Appling (nr mt), N. Fernandez (gd), Fain rare blue tint (ex); Balance: 13 cards ex-mt or better, 4 cards excellent, 2 cards very good-excellent , 6 cards good.

Lot 63.  1952 Royal Fan Premium set of 16. Mixed condition companion set to the 1952 Royal Pudding set. All are inscribed “To a Royal Fan” in white on the front. Key card is Stan Musial, which is ex+mt to near mint as is Warren Spahn and George Kell. Seven others average very good-excellent. The remaining 6 (Reese, Rizzuto, D. DiMaggio, Thomson, Dark and Blackwell) have damage in a corner.

Lot 64.  1952 and 1953 Dixie Lid Premium near sets. 1952 Dixie Lid Premium near set of 23 missing Ashburn. An ex-mt set that includes Bob Feller, Nelson Fox, Monte Irvin, Ralph Kiner, Red Schoendienst and Enos Slaughter. 1953 Dixie Lid Premium near set of 21 missing 3. Fox, Kluszewski and Spahn are the missing. The Ashburn has some ink stains in the upper left portion and some creasing (fair). The Sauer and Schoendienst are ex-mt, however have perforations at the left indicating they were in a sample book. The balance include Monte Irvin, Ralph Kiner, Red Schoendienst and Enos Slaughter and are ex-mt or better.

Lot 66.  1961 Post Cereal sets of 200. The first extended Post set which contained varieties from the cereal boxes and cards that could be obtained from the company. This set contains cards from both types. Lot 69.  Complete run of Kelloggs sets from 1970 to 1983, also Football from 1970 and1971. All the baseball sets except for the valuable 1971 are near mint or better. Unlike most Kelloggs the cards have been preserved so the usual curvature found in Kelloggs is not there. That is, they lie flat. 1971 Kelloggs Highlights: 2-Seaver (vg), 5-Clemente (nr mt), 10-Mays (ex+-mt), 44-Kaline (ex+-mt), 55-Killebrew (nr mt), 65-Rose (nr mt), There are 6 cards with cracks, and the balance are all ex-mt or better.
