Lot 1. B18 Blankets complete High Grade Master set of 181. B18’s were issued for nine players on ten major league teams in two color combinations for each team. The result was 180 items. One of the players, Cavanaugh of Detroit, was issued with his name with a "K" instead of a "C". That is the 181st blanket. Several color combinations are quite difficult including the nine Brown infields for both Detroit and Boston as well as the nine yellow bases and paths for both Cleveland and St. Louis NL. Our consignor started collecting B18’s in the mid 1970’s, completed the set and was constantly upgrading. The set includes Joe Jackson (both difficult, especially the yellow) and Ty Cobb (the Brown infield especially difficult). The resultant set is left with three blankets (Graney, Turner and Dolan), which while in nice condition, could be upgraded. The balance is ex-mt to near mint. The three are shown on our web page. The B18’s are housed in two three ring binders with the two blankets for each player neatly mounted with photo corners on each side of a black sheet. A spectacular collection.
