Lot 334.  A Large Johnny Podres 24" square photograph that hung in the Rotunda of Ebbets Field. In 1960 the owners of Ebbets Field decided to sell the memorabilia that remained in the ballpark. Several items were purchased by an ex-marine (well known in the hobby) and a lifetime Dodger fan who used a four day pass to come home to purchase several items that included four wall photos, two Ebbets Field seats and some other items. Total cost $100! It was autographed in person to our consignor "To a great Brooklyn Dodger Fan, Best Wishes Johnny Podres" years later. Our consignor, the second owner since 1960 purchased the photo in 1981. The photo which is 2 feet square is in a wood frame and was probably taken shortly after Podres’ historic win in the 1955 World Series and hung in Ebbets Field thereafter. Lot 335.  1958 San Francisco Giant "Payoff" ball. In 1958, the Giants first year in San Francisco, the SF Call Bulletin did a promotion with numbered cards inserted in their newspaper. The cards were numbered and the recipient could make a phone call if he had a winning number. The "Payoff" was an autographed Giant baseball in a specially made holder. It is not clear how many of these survived but this is the first I’ve ever seen. The offered one has badly faded signatures but Willie Mays, Al Worthington , Ed Bressoud, Marv Grissom, Curt Barclay, Mike McCormick, Hank Sauer, Rueben Gomez, Daryl Spencer, etc. It is believed by the consignor that the signatures are facsimile and the ball is offered on that basis. A very rare piece of San Francisco Giant memorabilia.
