1925 Exhibit Co of America Champions exhibit of Gene Sarazen.

Lot 355. 1925 Exhibit Co of America Champions exhibit of Gene Sarazen. One of the rarest golf cards known from the very rare Exhibit Company’s set of Athletic Champions. The set featured champions from all over the world and included Babe Ruth. Although this Sarazen card is the only one I’ve seen, I’ve seen writings mentioning a couple of others. In 1925 Sarazen was the rising star in Professional Golf, with Walter Hagan well established and Bobby Jones, though an amateur, just becoming known. Unfortunately, the card is not in the best of condition. It is trimmed, was glued in an album and shows some back damage and has 3 thumb tack holes in the upper left corner. The card presents well and is a striking pose of Sarazen.
