Lot 356. 1929 Dockman “Star Candy” Johnny Farrell card. Prior to the summer of 2008, an amazing find of 72 1929 John Dockman cards were discovered in their original box. Each card in the collection, which included 4 Babe Ruths, a Walter Johnson, Lou Gehrig, a golf card and 66 non baseball Almost all of the cards were in original envelopes with several pieces of gum balls and stapled shut. The Ruth cards have been subsequently auctioned and brought over $5,000 each. The golf card was Johnny Farrell and confirms the date of the set as Farrell won the U.S. Open in 1928. The card measures 1 7/8” x 2 7/8”, has a clean excellent front and some staining on the rear from the gum balls. The only copy known.
