1925 Champions Exhibit Advertising Display.

Lot 376. 1925 Champions Exhibit Advertising Display. The 27” x 12 1/2’ advertising display is the only one I’ve ever seen and is a must for the Exhibit card collector. The 1925 Champions exhibit set was the first issued featuring athletes other than baseball players. Called the “World’s Champions”, the set featured Babe Ruth but mostly consisted of Olympic athletes from around the world. There are twenty of the 32 cards displayed, each of which has been slightly trimmed to fit the exhibit. Included are Dempsey (lower left), a hockey player, and among the better known names, Johnny Weismuller, Ed “Stranger” Lewis, Gar Wood, Charles Paddock and Charles Jewtraw. A 1 3/4” strip has been pasted across the bottom four cards indicating “1c “ on each side with instructions in the middle. The display is professionally framed to 29” x 14 1/2”.
