Lot 101.  1930 Fleer “Whiz-Bang” Gum Set of 3 baseball Lefty Grove, Goose Goslin and Gabby Hartnett. From the 2009 find of a box of these previously unknown cards. The box consisted of 83 cards including 15 baseball. The apparent set was 16 cards with 3 baseball (Grove, Goslin and Hartnett). Offered here is the set of 3 baseball cards. The set is near mint. Each card has two tiny factory punched slits which it is suspected would propel the cards when 2 strings were inserted. Included is a pack of “Whiz Bang” Gum and 3 strings that would go through the two tiny slits. This is the last of four sets known, a complete set of 16 is in the hands of the original buyer, another was sold in our 2010 auction for $5,331 ands the third was sold in our 2011 auction for the minimum bid of $2,500. Lot 102.  R319 1933 Goudey set of 239 missing the #106 Lajoie A lower condition affordable set. An “*” after the grade indicates there in a pen mark in the upper left corner on the rear. In addition to the highlights below, about 80-90% of the balance of the set have a pen mark on the rear, usually in the upper left corner. Lot 104.  1927 W512 set of 50 in 2 sheets of 25 cards. The sheets include the ten baseball cards in the top row. All have good margins. The 3-Cobb and 8-Frisch have small cuts at the top which have been reinforced by a small piece of tape on the rear The other baseball players include Alexander, Speaker, Hornsby, Vance and Bancroft. The other subjects include 20 Movie Stars (Charlie Chaplain), 10 other sports stars (Hagen, Tilden, Weismuller, Wainwright, etc) and the bottom row has 10 boxers. One sheet has the bottom chewed away.

Lot 105.  F279-1 1934 Quaker Oats “Ask Me” baseball card game with Instruction sheet and original mailing envelope. A deck of 26 cards in sheets, as mailed, have baseball questions on the front and back and form the heart of a game created by the Quaker Oats Company in 1934. The cards are in near mint condition and come with the instruction sheet and the original mailing envelope.

Lot 109.  V94 Canadian Butterfingers very rare near set of 55, missing only Allyn Stout. Very similar to the American R310 Butterfingers, the thin paper 6 1/2” x 8 ½ cards are smaller and have several player changes. There are in fact, 23 players in the Canadian Butterfingers that are not in the American set. One of the rarest of all the 1930’s sets, it is only recently that it has been determined what a complete set is. Condition is unusually nice for such fragile items. Highlights: Dean (ex-mt), Dickey (vg-ex, corner crease), Foxx (ex-mt), Grove (ex), Gehringer (ex-mt), Gomez (ex-mt); Balance: Almost all excellent or better, most ex-mt. There are a couple of commons with creased corners and a couple with pinholes.

Lot 112.  1937 F5-3 Dixie Lid group of 47 lids including a near set of 21, missing 3 plus 26 variations. There are 35 small, 21 different (missing Autry, Gehringer & Tilden). Autry and Gehringer are in the large size along with ten others, 6 of which have tabs. Highlights (small): 2 Medwick-no tabs (vg), Hubbell-no tab (ex), 2 Hartnetts, one with tab (good), 1 no tab (ex), 2 Coleman –no tabs (vg-ex); Balance: 28 cards, 20 have tabs (19 are excellent, 9 good-very good and the ones without tabs average very good. Lot 113.  1938 F5-4 Dixie Lid group of 40 lids including a near set of 23 (missing Sammy Baugh) with 17 variations. There are 25 small size lids (23 different) and all but one (Feller) with tabs. There are 15 large, all blue tint and all but one (McCoy) with tabs. Highlights: (large): Feller (ex+-mt), Foxx (gd), Hubbell (ex-mt, tiny specks of paper loss on rear), Nagurski (nr mt). Boyd (ex+). Lot 115.  1950 Callahan Hall of Fame near set of 89 with original box. Originally issued in 1950 as a set of 62, cards were added or updated until 1956. The total number of cards known are 91. Offered here are 89 with the only variations missing are Gehringer (with dark cap) and Paul Waner (bottom frame line missing. The set is in near mint condition.
