Lot 28. Complete 1890 Sporting Life volume covering the historic Players League. Perhaps the most desired year of Sporting Life because of its extensive coverage of the Players league, or brotherhood, with every box score. In addition, it appears all Players League teams have graced the cover of an issue with a woodcut. The weekly issued have been preserved in two 22” x 15” slipcases especially made for the issues. Each slipcase holds six months. Unfortunately, the pages in the first issues of the last six months have separated at the middle. This has not affected the woodcuts, which are all on the top half of the cover of each issue, but has affected the pages. Minimum Bid $500.
