Lot of 311 baseball Autographs of players who debuted in 1910-1919.

Lot 244. Lot of 311 baseball Autographs of players who debuted in 1910-1919. Included in this lot are 320 different autographs from major league players who debuted from 1910-1919. They were originally auctioned by Mike Guiterrez in May of 1903 with a GAI certificate signed by Mike Baker and Mike Guiterrez. The autographs, which are all on 3 x 5 cards, mostly blank, and were last in the collection of major league pitcher Jerry DiPoto. According to the GAI certificate all the players were deceased then. The cards are arranged alphabetically within their debut years. Some highlights include Louis Lowdermilk, of T207 card fame, who pitched briefly for the Cardinals in 1911-12. Also Hy Gunning who lasted two months with the Red Sox in 1911 and for 9 AB’s, Similarly, W F Luhrsen pitched a month for Pittsburgh in 1913 and won all 3 starts and never pitched again in the majors. Harold P. Pertinheimer, played one day in the majors, at 2nd Base for Detroit in 1913 and Clarence pickup played one day in the majors in 1918 and finished his major league career with a 1.000 batting average. The group is filled with obscure names, whose careers were very short and their autographs are obviously not easy to find. A list of all the signatures is available on request. Winning Bid $2,860.
