Lot 217.  Near set of 155 different P2 Sweet Caporal Pins. All are neatly mounted in coin holders so that the front and backs are visible. The group includes the small and large letter varieties of 13 Hall Of Famers including Cobb, Mathewson, Johnson, McGraw, Speaker, Young, Bender, Wheat, Chance, Griffith, Clarke, Bresnahan and Huggins. In addition there are 19 other Large Letter varieties. There are 12 pins without the paper backing (list available), there are 5 pins with the very rare red paper backing (SPEAKER, FORD, CHANCE, DOOIN and TITUS). There are 3 pins that are badly rusted and would be considered poor (Engle, Wheat and Meyers). Most of the others range from very good to ex-mt with the great majority being excellent or better. Lot 218.  118 P2 Sweet Caporal Pins almost all small letter variety and almost all with paper backings. The group includes 20 Hall of Famers and 3 Large Letter varieties. The HOF’ers include Cobb, Mathewson, Johnson, Young and Speaker, Clarke (2, both Large and small letters), McGraw, Bender, Baker, Brown (2), Collins, Evers (3), Griffith, Hooper, Jennings and Johnson. Only McGraw has a rust stain on the surface. The balance of 98 include 27 duplicates and 90-95% are excellent to ex-mt.

Includes 2 of the 6 known Century Theatre Democrat & Chronicle pins with paper backings (ex+-mt); 1926 World Series St. Louis Cardinals Booster pin (ex-mt), Large St.Louis Browns pin (ex-mt); A “Red Rock Always Wins” marketing pin (ex+-mt), a (St. Louis) Browns Boys Brigade pin with paper backing (nr mt); A political pin for former 19th Century Phillie pitcher and N.L. President John Tener with paper backing (ex+-mt); A rare uncataloged pin of Pepper Martin (excellent); a PM 10 of Gabby Hartnett with Chicago Cubs pennant attached (ex-mt) and a tie clasp with hanging charm for the Little World Series of 1958 featuring the Minneapolis Millers (ex-mt). Nice group.
